A leader in GPS navigation and timing technology has announced a new strategic alliance with an innovator in Wi-Fi semiconductor technology. This alliance integrates an ultra low power SOC (System-On-a-Chip) and embedded software with a unique capability GPS receiver. The resulting new module can track as low as -150 dBm over an existing standard Wi-Fi network. The embedded 802.11 transceiver allows the device to support WPA2, WPA, WEP-64, WEP128 and no encryption options. The device adds cost efficiency with compatibility to existing Wi-Fi networks as well as extended battery life technology. The device is capable of tracking over both indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi networks, enhancing the usefulness of location tracking applications in a wide variety of industries.
