Mobile User in Ubiquitous Computing Environments
MUSIC is an EU project to develop applications for mobile users in ubiquitous computing environments. The project, which started in October 2006 and will end in March 2010, is developing self adapting applications for mobile users. The platforms are context aware, self adapting (dynamically adapt functionality and internal implementation mechanisms to changes in context), distributed in nature, mainly focused on mobile users, and address additional functional aspects (security, dependability, etc.). Project activities include development of an open platform for developing the self adaptive mobile applications including methods, tools, and middleware; platform development for trial applications; to align project work with relevant standards or promote new standards; and use open source approach for core project components in order to assist in widespread adoption of the project results. The research component of the project including modeling adaptable software and context dependencies; mechanisms for implementing adaptable software; automatic adaptation planning and decision making based on exploiting software models at runtime; context awareness including modeling sensing and reasoning on user context and available computing and communication resources; and analysis, simulation, testing, and tuning of adaptation related behavior.
