TECHFIND - ELECTRONICS
Moving Towards Superfast Quantum Computing
Researchers at a university in Australia have demonstrated two methods to place individual electrons on a silicon chip. In one method, the team was able to accurately localize a single electron in silicon without the electron being attached to an atom. Instead, the electron was attached to a quantum dot. The quantum dot's gates allowed the energy level on the quantum dot to be changed without affecting the electron density in the leads. In the second method, the team was able to localize electrons by binding them to single atoms. The team used double-gated field-effect-transistors to attach electrons to phosphorus atoms.
